Sustainability
Fashion is one of the most wasteful industries on earth. Thrift is the antidote β and it's been part of Kenyan culture for decades. We're just making it easier.
Every piece, a second life
Each item on ThriftEd already exists. Choosing pre-loved over new keeps clothing in circulation, saves the water and carbon of producing something from scratch, and supports the mitumba economy that millions of Kenyans rely on.
What we do
- Reuse over fast fashion. We only list second-hand and vintage β never new fast fashion.
- Minimal packaging. We pack in recyclable and reused materials wherever possible.
- Boda-first delivery. Same-day deliveries within Nairobi go by motorbike, not vans.
- Repair & care guides. Our curators share tips to help your pieces last longer.
The bigger picture
Kenya imports hundreds of thousands of tonnes of second-hand clothing every year. A lot of it has real life left. By grading, photographing and rehoming the best of it, we keep good clothing on bodies and out of dumpsites β while putting income in the hands of local curators.
Thrift is sustainability you can wear.
